The Best Free Software

Free isn’t always better than paid, but the list of software on this page comes pretty close. This list will have some of the best free software around and I’ll also list what paid programs they can replace.

- Google Docs. This free service by Google has most of the same programs that MS Office has. But it’s even better because you can access your files from any computer. No more saving files to some disk and having to take it with you. No more making sure another computer you’re using has the same software either.

- AVG Anti Virus. A great alternative to Norton or McAfee. It provides basic protection which is all that most of us need.

- WordPress. This blog uses wordpress, which is a free program that, once installed, lets you create, edit and update blogs easily.

- Boxee. You can watch tv shows for free online without needing to have cable or satellite with Boxee. The downside is that there’s no live TV option.

You should also have a look at SSuite Office for free office software. They have a whole bunch of office suites that are free for download. :)

Their software also doesn’t need to run on Java or .NET, like MS Office and so many open source office suites, so it makes their software very small, efficient, and easy to use. :D
